Nina Klein is an artist management agency for stylists and hair and make-up. Due to her love for fashion magazines she started an annually published fashion and art magazine. In 2017 she asked the Gaabs to create this years publication. Analysing the purpose of print in the digital age we decided to convert modern ways of seeing into print by taking the digital image out of it’s usual context.
Working together with a pool of creatives, designers, photographers, “muses” and our own artists, we were interested in testing (ourselves) out whether it’s possible to bring such contemporary ways of seeing to print, to transfer the digital image from its standard context to an analog one. For this purpose we’ve devised an “Instagram interview” in order to find out what our “digital I” is really up to. What are we posting and what are we drawn to? How much of what we share actually reflects reality and how do we present ourselves? What images capture our attention and which ones are worth sharing?
